On Halloween this year, we decided to create our own character and costume for Anbu. We know there are a lot of options out there--ready-made Spiderman costume, for example. But Da-wei and I strongly felt that buying a Halloween costume would go against our principle. We wouldn't want Sebastian to look at his first Halloween photos 16 years later and say: "You guys bought me a costume? Where did your DIY spirit go? Mom you suck! Are you sure you teach courses on youth subculture?"
The character we created is called Anbu-man (inspired by the Japanese character red-bean bread man, Anpan-man). He wanders in the wilderness, in search of encounters and experiences that bring giddiness and dreams to everyone.
